Welcome to Kerala Ink! We are an Etsy store dedicated to celebrating Malayalee American culture in all of its beauty. We are second generation Malayalee American parents who want our kids to have a glimpse of our childhood growing up in two cultures. We needed a way to explain everything from what a palappam (steamed rice pancake deliciousness) is, to how to eat off a banana leaf during Onam (Kerala’s harvest festival), to why ammachi (grandma) spends all her time with her krishi (plants in the garden) and not appachan (grandpa)!

At Kerala Ink, we believe that our culture is like a beautiful tapestry woven together with threads of tradition, history, and family. Ink, not only comes in many beautiful colors, but when on fabric it bleeds deep into the threads and becomes permanent. The Malayalee diaspora has a rich and bright heritage that runs deep in our veins that has fused with life abroad. We want to celebrate this fusion.

We offer a variety of merchandise that allow individuals and families to teach, laugh, celebrate, and embrace their cultural identity. From beautiful canvas art to clever clothing, we aim to keep the voices of our ancestors alive - asking us how many more dosas we want to eat at breakfast.

But our store is more than just a place to shop. It's a place to celebrate and connect with our community while keeping our cultural nuances alive in a creative space. We hope it starts conversations about Malayalee culture from our family to yours.
